Openwater Church's staff and Financial Advisory Board watched the original "The Great Recovery Webcast" by Dave Ramsey in 2011. It inspired them to challenge OWC to use the Financial Peace materials for a church wide small group campaign in order to get every family in the church financially free. We believe it is our small part of a larger movement to move this wonderful nation (one family at a time) to financial sanity. Click on "The Great Recovery Logo" above to learn more about the nation wide campaign to be financial responsible in our homes, churches, and businesses.
2013 FINANCIAL CHALLENGE
The challenge is simple; let's follow God's time tested financial principles. We began to do this in 2012 and now we continue the process in 2013 by having more of you go through Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University materials. Let's face it, we cannot rely on the government and our politicians to get us out of our debt. They continue to rack up debt! This is our opportunity. As the country and our neighbors continue to go in debt believers can get out of debt. I believe in four years the church will have a huge opportunity to reach American's with the good news of Jesus Christ through good financial principles. Your friends and family will want to know what is different about you and how you became financially solvent. And you can tell them that you had placed your trust in Jesus Christ and followed His Biblical principles found in His word! Let's all get out of debt in order to have a bigger impact on our community and world.
THE 2013 "STAND FIRM" CHALLENGE
On January 8, 2012, Pastor Dave spoke on the importance of "Standing Firm on God's Financial Values". You can view the sermon below. In it he gave three challenges to the church. The first challenge was for every family to purchase a Financial Peace Membership kit. The second challenge was to cut up their credit cards and stop purchasing things on credit. And the third challenge was to have every family pay off debt and send monthly updates to the church telling how much debt they have reduced or paid off. At the top of this page are 2012 stats for OWC in two crucial areas. We have begun a new stat sheet for 2013.
