At OWC we celebrate the Lord's Supper (Communion) weekly in our Sunday services. Any believer in Jesus Christ is encouraged to receive communion regardless of their church affiliation. If you are a guest of ours and you are a believer please partake in communion with us. Below is a simple outline of how the Lord's Supper is presented to the church.
THE LORD'S SUPPER (COMMUNION)
1 Corinthians 11:23-26
For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
WHAT IS THE LORD'S SUPPER (COMMUNION)?
It is a simple act of bread and juice.
It is a reminder; Jesus said do this in remembrance of me.
It is a symbol; the symbolic of His body beaten for us and the juice symbolic of shed blood.
It is a statement of faith; when you take the Lord's Supper you are saying that you believe Jesus to be the only way to heaven (John 14:6).
TWO WAYS TO RECEIVE THE COMMUNION ELEMENTS
Come to Tables to Receive the Elements
Some weeks you may be asked to come to one of four tables to receive the elements at the end of our services. During this time ministers will be at the tables to pray for you. After prayer they give you the elements to which you may go back to your seat to take the elements or take the elements and leave the service area.
Served by Our Ushers Some weeks our ushers serve the elements to the congregation during the service. After the elements have been served to everyone; the congregation takes the elements together as a family.
